Here's a part 1 of Nica's Dream, tab of pdf. I remember I recorded Nicaβs Dream for NYU masters program audition once, I tried MSM as well as NEC auditions but didnβt get in. I made the album and got a visa instead. Ended up working with Kurt Elling and winning a competition. It took me a while to really getting in nyc jazz scene like 7-10 years though I was very lucky to have a lot of support from many people. Great guitarist Peter Mazza was the one who let me play at Bar Next Door from early on, I get to see many great guitarists, opened shows for Jonathan Kreisberg, hang out there with Ed Cherry etc.
Around the same time I started playing at Bar Next Door, I also tried smalls, one day I got to hang with Mitch Borden and had a nice conversation but I didn't know he's the owner back then lol I recently went to Ornithology in Brooklyn and got to talk to him for the first time in almost 10 years. He showed me some old banjo players and told me Django also played banjo, felt pretty inspired to work on 2 or 3 fingers jazz playing instead of using pinky for single notes.
