This is Dexter Gordon's one chorus solo on You Stepped Out of a Dream. Working on transcribing like this is really beneficial, I know a lot of people like fast and/or easy licks but these are the things that how we really learn deep down. I will try to keep up with focusing on 1 standard per week or two to make 1. Solo guitar arrangement, 2. Comping track, 3. 1 Chorus Solo Idea like this. Thank you all of you who's been supporting my life work on patreon, while I will still keep making fast lick videos, I hope this format could eventually be a bit help of filling the gap of jazz knowledge among the guitarists. This is something all the jazz students work on all the time, and I've done a lot in the past yet it took me quite a while to make a video/tab presentation together. Transcribing and video shooting in fast speed while keeping up with short contents is a bit of task I was not being able to focus before. This is my answer to my students and those who asked me about if there's any step by step learning method. Each standards and each solo is unique both harmonically and rhythmically. By working on transcription like this we learn all the things at the same time. I recommend to use your ear as much as you can before looking at the tab, then use tab as a guide. Check the scale and ideas to understand what soloist was playing, so one day we'll be able to replicate them without thinking too much. Soundslice: https://www.soundslice.com/slices/jCwCc/
